Miracle In Proportion To Faith

Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.

                Mark 6:5-6

The other day, our Pastor was talking to us about the effective deliverance of the Word of God. He said that many times when people are not receptive, when they doubt and also rebel to the Word preached, he feel that the Word does not fulfill its purpose for which it was sent. That is so true..God cannot work His ways when we doubt or question Him.

To affirm the truth, God revealed to me this passage. I have read this before many times, but has never understood it this clearly. Jesus was in His hometown and we read that He could not do any mighty work there, except few healings here and there. Why? Do you think that Jesus was not willing to do the miracles? Did He not have the mind to do great things for His people? Or do you think that there were not many who were in need of miracles? We have seen in all the other places that He visited, many were touched, healed, delivered from sin, saved from the evil spirits. In all those places, the crowd who followed Jesus was not a hindrance for healing because people even placed the sick through the roof top. No matter how worse the sickness was, Jesus had showed His miracle in healing them. The man near the pool is the best example for that..He was sick for thirty eight years…So long years were not a problem. Jesus even raised the dead many times..He definitely worked when the case were really hopeless. What do you think happened here?

In the next verse, we read that He was marveled by their unbelief. The people in that town had an attitude that made the limitless God very limited…as though His hands were bound, not allowing Him to do anything for them. Jesus was in their town..Oh..what a privilege…Something they did not realize and they missed the opportunity only because of their doubt and unbelief. They could have used that opportunity for greater things…for healing many and for delivering hundreds from sin.But they limited God. They did not understand the limitless power of God which can do wonders. So Jesus went in circuits..teaching. Or in other words..they heard more but they received no miracles through the WORD.

Today, are we in that same town. Jesus is there standing next to you willing to do great and mighty things for you and your family. For Him, your miracle is just a breath away…Your problem might be aged, lifeless, not so common, and so severe. Our God understands the cause of it.. but only if you let Him do it for you.

If you doubt Him, if you question His provisions, or if you come to conclusions that nothing is going to change….then God cannot work for you..He will go around the same village in circuit..over and over…just teaching. Because hearing brings faith. And when He watches you stepping forward in faith…nothing in this world can stop Him from doing that miracle for you. So let us not limit our Limitless God by drawing boundaries for Him to work. Let Him take full control…you just have to trust and not doubt Him. Remember, your Miracle is always in proportion to your FAITH.

God Bless,

Rani John

  2. Great message Rani,
It reminds me of the story during the great depression when the leaders of a local church called the congregation together to pray for rain. After it was over, the pastor saw a young lady carrying an umberella around and laughed at her, saying what did you bring that for, there is not a cloud in the sky. Prayer without faith is dead.

  4. Rani, Great post! Doubt can get in the way of God’s great miracles in our lives. This post reminded me of Hebrews 11:6 – “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” We must not just believe in God but also believe that He wants to reward and bless our belief and faith. Peace, Linda

    • Thank you Linda..I love it when you add more insights to the post…
      God Bless,
      Rani
