Walk Of Faith

Since this morning, one thought have been constantly on my mind…and that is about Abraham and how he obeyed God when He asked him to go to the land that He will show him. I have read that scripture many times…but today, when I meditated upon that thought, I wondered how difficult it would have been for Abraham to leave his own and start off a journey of uncertainty.

In the beginning of Genesis, chapter 12, Lord is asking Abram “Leave your country, your people, and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you”.When I read that verse, I thought how specific God was about what all he had to leave…yet how vaguely described was his destination. In a way, God was asking to start off a journey leaving the ‘YOURS’ in life to a destination of I(GOD).

Even though not much was described about the land to which Abram had to go…God promised His guidance in every step of his way. Not only that, even before he started the journey, God gave him a promise.

“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you;
I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

When the things he had to leave was so concrete and specific…he had to look forward and wait for the promise in faith for his destination. What if God asks us to start a journey like that in faith?

Sometimes, when God asks us to do something in faith..He expects us to leave our comfort zones, our familiar situations, our thinking, our priorities and take that leap of faith. Most of the time, our steps are not explained to us in advance…but they are all ordered by Him. Each step need to be taken in faith…but even before He calls you for that start, he will equip you with His presence and His promise.

Will you be ready if God calls you for this journey? How will you react if He asks you to leave “YOURS” where YOU were in charge and enter into this faith life where GOD is in control? Will you trust Him and lean on His promise? Are you ready for this “walk of faith”??

God Bless,

Rani John
