Holy And Acceptable To Our Lord

The other day, reading the word of God, I came across the book of Zechariah. 14th chapter and the last few verse caught my attention. I don’t think I’m reading the book of Zechariah for the first time, but strangely enough, I felt like the last few verses were really new and fresh to me.

On that day HOLY TO THE LORD will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots in the LORD’s house will be like the sacred bowls in front of the altar.  Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD Almighty, and all who come to sacrifice will take some of the pots and cook in them. And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the LORD Almighty.(Zechariah 14:20-21)

Even though, this chapter talk about God’s reign over the people of Israel at the end times and how God will consecrate His people for His service, I felt Holy Spirit whispering within me..”That is exactly what God is doing with us..making us holy and acceptable…as a living sacrifice unto Him”.

If you look into the Book of Exodus 28:36, you will understand that God had given laws about even the priestly garments and its accessories. The words ‘Holy To the Lord’ were engraved upon a gold plate attached on to the turban of the priest. So we understand that in those days, certain things and people were considered consecrated and holy before God….But in the above verse, we see that, even the bells of the horses( which means all the accessories used commonly with a horse..like the bridle and stables) were considered to be Holy to the Lord. Whatever may be the service of the horses..let it be labor or war….not only the horses, but all the accessories…all the common things associated with it will be considered Holy… In other words…there is no specific role, person or thing that is considered to be highly important and acceptable to God…anything and everything will be made pure and holy for the Lord.

The bowls used in the altar for worship is considered to be sacred and holy because, in those days, these vessels are the ones which carry the blood of the sacrifice…But God is telling us through the above verse that every cooking pot, no matter what their service may be..will be turned to holy…just like the ones used in the altar…There will not be any undefiled or unholy person among God’s people.

Now, you might ask me, what is this has to do with me and my current life. All this is about the end time and is especially about the people of Israel. My dear child of God, we being the new Jerusalem…are called to serve and worship God without any boundaries and limitations. And in our life, here on earth, God is preparing us to be Holy and acceptable to the Lord. If in those days, only the priest were considered to be holy, in this time of grace, we are made pure and holy by the sacrifice of the lamb.

We may be just an ordinary vessel used in the kitchen…for cooking…all marred with fire…yet God is preparing you and me to be sacred bowls used in the altar..to be a major part of the worship…Just like those horses , every area of our life will be dedicated to the service of the Lord.

How do you think God is preparing us to be Holy? Through our life, through our trials…everyday when we triumph in Him…he cleanses every aspect of our lives..and make our focus only God and His service…and slowly…this cooking vessel…which has remained in a dirty kitchen all its life…just knows only the common and not so special service of cooking..will one day be turned into that SACRED BOWL…precious and well kept…maintained and dedicated…for the service of the Lord…HOLY AND ACCEPTABLE TO THE LORD.

You are a work in progress…Are you ready..to be an important part of that altar. God is engraving the words ‘HOLY TO THE LORD’ on you.

God Bless,

Rani John
