Moving Out With Him And For Him

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

             Isaiah 41:10

Recently, I have been thinking a lot about the ‘great move’. Now, what do I mean by this great move?? It could be moving out of a country to a new one like one of my close friend, Gladwell. For some others it might be moving from a job they were so comfortable with to a new venture of life..Whatever be the ‘move’..I feel that, for a believer it is a great step in life…a humble submission to His great leading. But, its not that easy to respond to that call of God. There are uncertainties involved, fear and anxiety expressed…yet confidence evolved into faith in this God who called us out from our current place to that land of unknown.

For today’s devotion, I would like to explain few ‘moves’ from the Bible and God’s purpose behind them. The other day, I was reading from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 2 and was greatly intrigued by the verse 4.

Moving out—so that the prophecy is fulfilled

The words ‘out of the city of Nazareth to the city of Bethlehem’ from Luke 2:4 started confirming this thought which was in my mind for many days. Here we see a great move in Joseph’s life. Now this move was not preplanned by him, but ordained by God so that the scriptures could be fulfilled…The savior had to be born in Bethlehem and when it was time for that promise to be fulfilled, God worked in the heart of Caesar Augustus to pass a decree that census had to be taken and the people had to register themselves for the census in their own city. Moving out to a new place, especially with a pregnant woman must have been really difficult for Joseph…yet he took the risk…and thus the prophecy was fulfilled.

Moving out—with a great blessing

In Genesis 12, we read about another move..Abraham is called out of his father’s house to a land which God is going to show him. Leaving his father’s house, his relatives and everything comfortable there might have been really difficult for Abraham. And especially when God has not mentioned the land in advance…He had said that HE will show him that place…which means  that the  place is completely unknown for Abraham. He doesn’t know how far he has to go, which way he has to travel and how long..And I can tell you..that is really difficult to go forward without knowing where and how. Yet Abraham obeyed…why because He heard the voice of God and the promise that for everything he is going to leave behind…there is a blessing ahead. In this move, Abraham had to leave his father’s house, but he received a blessing to be called ‘God’s Nation’

Moving out—deliverance from bondage to a land of His presence

Few days back, my friend Debbie Feller, wrote in her a blog a beautiful poem about moving out with Jesus. And she had mentioned about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. And that is the next move I would like to talk about. God heard their cry and decided to deliver the people of Israel from bondage to a land of milk and honey…to a land of inheritance. God promised that they will not have to go empty handed, they will have the plunder of the enemy…not only that, He promised His presence to be with them.

Moving out—for the deliverance of others

Next is about Jonah, who was called to move out to Nineveh. He was not willing to obey God’s call..and so he moved far from it.But God brought him back to where he started and led him to Nineveh. But this move was not for him…it was for that city of Nineveh….for their deliverance.

Today, do you hear God calling you out of your current place, your current circumstances. He wants to lead you to a new place where there is blessings, inheritance, peace, joy and power. He wants to deliver you from bondage…to freedom. Are you willing to come out and move forward to the land which God is going to show you…He has promised His presence to be with you. And He knows that it is scary to leave your comfort zone and move to a new venture. But, if you trust Him completely, you will see prophecies about you fulfilled…new blessings in your next steps, freedom from sin and suffering, His continuous presence and guidance..And when you are at that place which God has led you…You will be a blessing for many others..not just few, but for a Nation.  So let us move out to that new land of opportunities He has planned for us..All for His glory and Honor.

In Him,

Rani John

  1. Oh Rani, thank you for showing us about moving out with Him from where we are! We all have to move, don’t we? We can’t stay just where we are, even when we’re waiting. I feel Him asking me to move into a new understanding of a hard to understand area in my life, to embrace it. . .to embrace more and more having a servant’s heart. God bless you as you lead us ever closer to Him! deb

    • Yes, Deb…I feel that every now and then we move…may be not physically…but spiritually and emotionally from one place to a higher place…according to His plan and purpose…I pray that God will give you the strength to understand His plans for you even though it may not be that transparent and clear to our human understanding..

      God Bless you dear,

  2. Oops! sorry I forgot to add something! It’s about tadpoles. 🙂 We watched a nature show tonight that showed these giant bull frog tadpoles. Hundreds were trapped in this small puddle. It was only a matter of time before they would suffocate and die there. The daddy bull frog did something amazing, that only one other type of frog does. He dug a trench from the small puddle where the tadpoles were trapped to the larger pond. The tadpoles were saved, flowing down into the deeper water. Then it told us the word amphibian means 2 lives. I thought my life before I knew Him and then the new life He gave me when I believed. 🙂 love you! deb

    • Oh…I love your tadpoles story….Isn’t it so wonderful to learn from the nature and relate it to our spiritual life…I love when God uses His creation to teach me something very valuable…I feel that such lessons stay in our mind..I’m glad that you shared it with me…

      God Bless,

  3. Rani,

I thank God for you…for your kind words and constant encouragement. I NEEDED THIS WORD….and God used you today, to speak and re-ignite the NEWNESS of purpose as we set out into the UNKNOWN. But as you put it…there God is waiting to meet us with the blessing. And for all the others out there…who are yet waiting to move out…for whatever circumstances they are facing in life…I testify with you, that God will never leave nor forsake us. He is with us…every part of the way…and beyond. MOVE OUT…with HIM in HOPE AND JOY.

To the Glory and Honour of HIS NAME.

Thank you, my dear friend…and may the Lord meet you at your point of need and much more!!!

    Love and hugs,

    • Gladwell,

Your move was my inspiration to write this post…I have been thinking a lot about your move…and I was impressed by your faith and confidence in God. I’m glad that this post spoke to you..I’m sure that your move is for a promise to be fulfilled…and God is going to guide you there and in that place, you will be blessed and delivered…and you will be used mightly for His kingdom…So be strong…because He is the one holding you..

      God Bless sis,

  4. Rani, I love this post! He is moving in us as we move out with Him in faith that where He leads us is better than where we have been. Peace, Linda

    • Yes…the new place is much better than the place that we left…More than anything else…God is moving with us in our journey..

      God Bless you,
