The Greatest Gift Of Life–Jesus Christ

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

                Romans 8:32
The other day, I was reading some article from the internet and this particular verse was highlighted in that article and it caught my attention. The moment I read it, I knew God wanted to teach me more about it.But somehow I could not meditate on that verse yesterday. There were few things in my life that I was asking God in prayer and was too much worried that it was unanswered. Again and again I asked Lord, whether He did not want me to have it and today He pointed me to the same verse.

It is so wonderful to know how the Holy Spirit makes us understand the truth of His word. He told me a good example to make me understand that. He said, “Suppose that a child comes to your house and enjoys the company of your daughter and plays with her toys. while leaving he/she will be upset to leave right? While going back home, if he asks for a toy, will you give him that?” I said, “Yes Lord. definitely”. Then He asked “What if he asks for your child to play. will you give her up forever for the happiness of the other child?”. I said..”No way”. Then He reminded me the truth “For your sake, He has given his only begotten son, He gave up his child for you, If He could do that for you, then why do you think he will withhold other things from you. When compared to what you have received, the little things you ask for is nothing”

I do not know whether you understood the depth of that verse. If you read that verse giving importance to each word, you will see that it has immense meaning which is far beyond our understanding. Nobody will give up his own child for others. But our God did not spare his own son, but delivered him up for us all. It is not just for christians. It is for all the mankind. It is for you and me and also for the homeless in our streets. The NIV translation of this verse says, He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?. What is the meaning of “giving up”. It is the language usually used in courts. A court usually gives up the criminal to punishment. God was willing to give up His own son in place of our punishment.

Did you notice the next sentence? “How shall he not with Him also freely give us all things?” I would like to concentrate on few words which touched me,

All Things: He said He will give us all things. We do not see any kind of restriction in those words. Everything we ask in His name, He is ready to give us. Let it be intangible things like peace, joy and happiness. Let it be material things in life; a good job, a family or a child.

Freely: We think that we need to do many things to receive blessings. But God says He is ready to give everything freely or graciously. Grace is to receive something which we do not deserve. He is ready to give us everything we have asked just freely, without paying any price. For the bible says “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you”. If you put God first in your life, all the things that you ask for, will be added into your life…What a privilege.

With Him: Did you notice that particular clause? He gives us all things freely with Him. So you need to have Him in your life to have all the other things that you ask for. Many times, we need everything else, but not Jesus. The more you have Jesus in your life, less will you worry about the other things in life. Suppose you worry about the lack of peace in your life. The more you have Jesus, the more you will feel the peace, because peace comes with Jesus. Let all the emptiness in your life be filled with Jesus.

Do not feel worthless in life. You are worth the price of God’s only begotten son. The magnitude of it may not be so clear to us while we are living in this world. But when you spent your eternal life with Him, you will realise that the petty things of this life were not worth fighting for when compared to the priceless treasure you have..Your saviour and Lord..Jesus Christ.

In Him,

Rani John
