God Will Remember You

Then the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?

                Genesis 18:17

So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived.

                Genesis 19:29

Do you believe that the Almighty God will share his agenda with His faithful people? I firmly believe so and the bible gives us proof too. We read in Genesis chapter 18 that the three visitors came to see Abraham while he was sitting in front of his tent. As soon as he saw them, he understood that it was God and gave Him all the honor and served Him with great reverence. They were on their way to Sodom and Gomorrah were Lot lived. The sins of that place was so severe that God really wanted to destroy those two places. And we see God saying that He will not hide from Abraham what He is about to do. Think about the relationship God had with Abraham…Can you imagine that? God telling you about His next step. Wow!!

In verse 22 we read “The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD.” The three men were on their way to execute their plan, but Abraham stood still before the Lord. In the next few verses we see Abraham standing in the gap for his brother Lot and his family. I want you to think about that situation clearly. On one side, you see God furious about the sins of Sodom and wanting to destroy the people there and on the other side, Abraham, a mere human standing in the gap. Abraham started with 50 righteous people and finally asked God if at least 10 righteous people are there, He should not destroy the place. But we see in the next chapter that there were not even 10 righteous people in Sodom. But God knew the heart of Abraham and saved Lot and his family, 4 altogether. He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah completely, though Lot’s wife who turned back and disobeyed God’s word was turned into a salt pillar.

I love the verse 27 of chapter 19. ” Early the next morning Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the LORD”. Imagine the burden of Abraham. First thing in the morning, he ran to the place where he stood yesterday before the Lord…the place I call “standing in the gap”. He saw the Sodom and Gomorrah burning like a furnace. Seeing the smoke reminded him of a God who cannot withstand disobedience and unholliness, but at the same time, Abraham saw the heart of the Lord who remembered him and saved, Lot and his family.

We worship a Lord who will not hide His plans from His faithful. What a privilege it is to know the heart of God!! But when He reveals His plans to us, we should have the heart of Abraham to stand still and remain standing in the presence of God and to ask God again and again for the deliverance of our loved ones. If you have cried for others, if you have spent your night for the uplifting of troubled ones, if you have stood in the gap for your people, then believe me, God will remember you and do exactly as you have requested. In Genesis 19:22 , we see God telling Lot ” Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there.”. Did you see God’s faithfulness towards Abraham. God of Gods and the King of Kings waiting for Lot to arrive a safe place, only because of His promise towards Abraham. It is the same with you and me. He will wait..no matter where you are, how many long years it took..He will wait to use you for the deliverance of the ones you cried for and you will see it with your own eyes. There is reward for standing in the gap..and that is when you see the deliverance, God is going to do through you. That time you will realize that God remembers you and works in favour of you.

Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

                 Amos 3:7

What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him?

                 Hebrews 2:5-6

Reflections

Do you have a heavy burden for your loved ones? Have you shed tears at His feet for their deliverance? Our God takes note of every tear you have shed and every nights you have prayed. He will remember you and use you for their blessing. You might be very far away and years might have passed…but God remembers the time and place you have prayed for that person and will use you to see the deliverance with your own eyes.

God Bless,
