Reward For The Righteous

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

             Hebrews 10:35

We all serve a God who rewards us abundantly for the least we do for Him. Bible says in Mark 9:41 “I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward.”God has been revealing to me this thought for past few days. Today, as I was meditating the word of God, I was directed to the book of Kings where the shunamite woman was mentioned. I know that we are well familiar with that my friend Susan has also written a beautiful thought from the same(The God of Restoration). But I believe that God will use the same Shunamite woman to learn a different thought today.

As we all know the story, I’m not planning to explain the context. In 2 Kings chapter 4, we read about the Shunamite woman who provided a room for the prophet of God, Elisha. Seeing that he is a man of God, she asked her husband to build a room in her house so that the man of God can stay there comfortably every time he passed through Shunem. In that prophet’s chamber, she provided Elisha, 3 things. A bed, table and chair and a lamp. The bed represents rest and restoration. The lamp stand represents light and illumination. The table represents dining and communing with God.

In our christian life, do we offer a “prophet’s chamber” for others. When they visit us, do we have a place to offer which provides rest and restoration. Do they see the light of Jesus in our lives? Do you provide them a communion with God? How many people have felt comfortable being around with you and said that they feel coming back to your house? If many have said so…then it is because of the Love of God.

Now, I would like you to look at the Shunamite woman. She used to give food for Elisha, every time he passed through shunem. Now she is taking an extra effort to build a room for this servant of God who is not an everyday guest, but only a frequent visitor. Think of that..She was about to experience a God who rewards her abundantly for the kindness she showed to Elisha. When she decided to give generously to the servant of God, the Jehovah Jireh decided to provide her every needs. If you read the rest of the chapters you will understand that, she was blessed with a miracle child though her age had limitations. She could experience the deliverance of God by raising his son from death. She received an advanced warning of a 7 year famine. God did provide for her in those seven years and when she returned to her country, God, in His perfect timing arranged a divine meeting with the king in which she was restored her land as well the income for the seven years.

If you have offered a prophet’s chamber for any child of God, He will record everything in detail and give you back in abundance. God is there to provide you with miracles in your emptiness, restoration of deadness in your life, protection and provision in your famine years and also a return of your lost possession, in double, just the way Job received. Since the Shunamite woman was ready to welcome the prophet, she was given a prophet’s reward according to the word written in Mathew 10:41

Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward.

We serve a God who keeps records of the smallest thing..even a glass of water given to a child of God. If you have offered a prophet’s chamber to anybody, you are destined to receive a prophet’s reward. Let the people who visit you experience rest, receive the light of Jesus and also have the communion with God. Make sure you have all these 3 ,in your room all the time.Though it is the basic things..its the most needed and essential things.

Trust Him,

Rani John
